Our Boracay Massage Therapies Explained:
Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese healing method which follows principles related to the ancient Chinese meridian system. This method is designed to help correct the body’s imbalances, treating the body as a whole, helping to restore proper function of the nervous, circulatory, and muscular systems. Shiatsu does not require the use if massage oils.
Developed in the 1700’s by a Swedish doctor, Swedish massage is designed to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles using a variety of strokes that move in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. Swedish massage is ideal for shortening recovery time for muscle strain by flushing the muscle tissue of various acids and metabolic wastes, while increasing circulation. It also works wonders for reducing emotional and physical stresses. This technique employs the use of virgin coconut oils.
Thai massage is a timeless method that includes rhythmic pressing and stretching of the entire body. Many yoga-like positions are used during the course of the massage. It is traditionally a very standardized process lasting for two hours. However, Bella Isa incorporates a shortened version of Thai massage in its two massage packages. We have found that most customers prefer it in this manner. And like shiatsu, Thai massage does not require the use of oils.
The Reflexology Association of Canada defines reflexology as:
“A natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears and their referral areas within zone related areas, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes without the use of tools, crèmes or lotions, the feet being the primary area of application, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body.”
